Meet the Panelists:
Anna Dayn is a Managing Partner and US head of New End, a family-office anchored strategic advisory and capital formation firm in private markets. At New End, Anna partners and invests in high-growth companies, sponsors, and investment platforms to provide business development and access to institutional capital.
Anna has over 20 years' experience in funding, designing, and implementing private equity investment programs. Before New End, Anna established the North American platform of XTP, a leading cost analysis platform serving institutional investors. Anna previously served as the head of Private Equity at Cardano, a UK pension consultancy, where she oversaw a private equity program spanning $2bn of invested capital. Prior to that, Anna worked at Capital Dynamics and NM Rothschild.
Anna has served on the limited partner advisory boards of several private equity funds across North America and Europe, is a published author, media commentator, and a frequently featured speaker at investment industry conferences. She sits on the Executive Board of WAVE, the Women’s Association for Venture and Equity, and serves on the New York Steering Committee for PEWIN, the Private Equity Women’s Investor Network.
Anna received an MBA from the Wharton School and a BA in Economics from the College of Arts and Sciences, both at the University of Pennsylvania.
Lisa Melchior is the founder and Managing Partner of Vertu Capital, a Toronto-based technology private equity firm targeting high-potential Canadian technology businesses. She has been a private equity investor for more than 25 years and has invested $1.5B in over 25 companies across North America and Europe, with a focus on enterprise software and software-enabled businesses. In March 2023, the Canadian Venture Capital Association honored Lisa with its Woman of Achievement Award in Private Equity.
Before founding Vertu Capital, Lisa spent 17 years as Managing Director at OMERS Private Equity, where she led OPE’s North American technology group and was part of the original management team that built OMERS’ private equity business. At OPE, Lisa invested in several technology companies in Canada, Europe, and the US, and established a strong track record on more than $1 billion invested across eight platform investments, including Logibec, Matrixcare, Civica, and Constellation Software. Before joining OMERS, Lisa was a Director at CIBC Capital Partners where she developed a strong foundation of investing and capital markets transaction experience.
A recognized thought leader in Canada’s financial, business, and technology communities, Lisa is often invited to speak at industry events, including those sponsored by The Canada Club, TechExit, CVCA, ACG and PEWIN. She has been a guest lecturer for CVCA/ Ivey PE Academy, Deloitte’s M&A academy, inaugural chair of TechExit Toronto, a CIX top 20 judge, an E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Ontario Chapter judge, and Chair of the Capital Committee for the Province of Ontario’s Scale Up initiative.
Outside of Vertu, Lisa sits on the boards of Real Matters (REAL.TO), a leading mortgage lending technology company, as well as the CVCA. Lisa’s board experience spans numerous successful public and private technology companies across Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. She is also the Chair of the Mentorship Program of the Canadian Women in Private Equity. Lisa earned an MBA from York University’s Schulich School of Business and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
Susan Stupin is Co-Founder and a Managing Director of The Prescott Group, LLC, a New York-based real estate investment and asset management firm active in North America and internationally (www.prescott-group.com). Prescott undertakes principal investment activities in the real estate sector for its own account and on behalf of third-party investors, typically creating or acquiring operating platforms to complement its asset investments. The firm serves both institutional and private investors and invests in a variety of property sectors. Ms. Stupin serves as a Managing Director of Prescott’s two principal operating affiliates, Prescott Capital Management, LLC, the firm’s investment and asset management subsidiary and Prescott Capital Advisors, LLC, the firm’s investment banking unit. She also serves on the firm’s Management, Operating, and Investment Committees as well as on the board of Prescott’s portfolio companies, including Prescott Net Lease Properties, its net lease investment platform. The firm also provides real estate investment banking and advisory services to property owners, investors, and operators on a global basis, with services that include raising debt and equity capital in the public and private markets and strategic consulting. The firm also qualifies as a woman-owned firm.
Before joining Prescott in 1988, Ms. Stupin was a senior member of the Real Estate Department of the Investment Banking Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. Prior to joining Goldman, she was a member of the Institutional Finance Group of Eastdil Realty, Inc. and before business school, she was a member of Paine Webber’s Corporate Bond Department and active on the firm’s sinking fund desk.
Ms. Stupin was born in Los Angeles, California. She graduated with an A.B. degree, cum laude, from Princeton University and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business Administration. She has been an active and longstanding member of various financial industry organizations including the Urban Land Institute, where she is a member of the Urban Development/Mixed Use Council (“UD/MUC”) Blue Flight and ULI’s Program Committee and also served as Chair of UD/MUC’s Silver Flight. She is also a member of Women’s Forum, Inc. in New York; WX - New York Real Estate Women Executives in Real Estate; and the International Council of Shopping Centers (“ICSC”). She is a frequent lecturer on real estate, capital markets, and investment management topics at global and U.S. conferences and events, as well as a respected media resource and author of numerous articles on real estate and related topics.
Ms. Stupin has been active in a leadership capacity with a variety of charitable and civic organizations. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees and the Finance and Investment Committees of International House, a residential community in New York City serving international graduate students. Susan also serves as a member of the Board of the American Farm School in Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a former member of the Board of The Museum of American Finance in New York City.
Olivia Zhao is a member of Stellex's investment team. Prior to joining Stellex in 2020, Ms. Zhao was a Vice President at Centre Lane Partners, where she was responsible for evaluating and executing investments across various sectors including business services, consumer products, industrials and technology. She was also on the board of directors at certain portfolio companies and focused on partnering with management teams to execute on strategic and operational initiatives. Prior to Centre Lane, Ms Zhao worked as an analyst in the Global Industrials Group at Deutsche Bank Securities.
Ms. Zhao is currently a director of the boards of A. Stucki Company, LFG Data Services and Weber Logistics.
Ms. Zhao received her B.S. in finance and economics from The New York University Stern School of Business.
